New book: A New Idea of India
It is out for pre-order! Coauthored with my good friend, Rajeev Mantri, another India based investor.
Hi everybody, Happy Independence Day!
Sorry for being MIA. Was just dotting the Is and crossing the Ts for my latest book, “A New Idea of India” (co-authored with my friend Rajeev Mantri - his substack here - available for pre-order in India and outside here, here, here - do not ask me about the pricing: only the Gods that look over Amazon’s algorithms know!). My last book, also coauthored, was on financial derivatives and is available here amongst other places.
The subtitle as you can see below is “Individual Rights in a Civilisational State”, and it is being published by Amazon’s Westland Books. We are very lucky to have endorsements from some amazing individuals, including the Honourable Finance Minister of India, Nirmala Sitharaman, but more on blurbs later!
The book covers a lot of ground on political economy and political philosophy in the widest sense. Even for those investors and economists who are not passionate about India, and/or find its politics boring, this book maybe valuable because without the broader cultural and geopolitical context, there is no macro analysis and there is no bottom-up stock picking beyond a point. Without a sense of the long-term and medium-term zeitgeist, one is just shooting in the dark!
The book will be out in September, and I hope you pre-order (or at least order then!) - looking forward to your feedback. I am available here (Twitter) and here (LinkedIn)
Best, Harsh
